LCA training for architects on embodied carbon and ISO standards

Training of architects on Life Cycle Assessment

Client: Various

Note: This project was undertaken when Below280 was part of Decerna

As the construction industry moves towards zero carbon buildings, LCA training for architects has become increasingly important. This is something which can be measured through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). However, this is an area which many architects require additional training on.

Outline and Objectives: LCA Training for Architects

Below280 provided a training course on LCA, in terms of the theory, databases, impact categories, software, and the ISO standards which are used. This was applied to various decisions which architects can make in order to help reduce the environmental impact of buildings

Outcomes

The architects from the six companies were left with a stronger understanding and knowledge of LCA

Funding

This work was funded via the European Regional Development Fund.
