Carbon Reduction Plan
Below280 is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
As a business whose purpose is to help others measure and reduce their environmental impact, we hold ourselves to the same standard we advise for our clients. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our first measured carbon footprint and the steps we’re taking to reduce it.
Baseline footprint
Our baseline year is 2026, covering the period from when Below280 commenced trading in March through to year end. Total emissions for this partial period were 16.14 tCO₂e, broken down as follows:
| Scope | tCO₂e |
|---|---|
| Scope 1 | 1.27 |
| Scope 2 | 1.56 |
| Scope 3 | 13.31 |
| Total | 16.14 |
Employee commuting and business travel account for the largest share of our footprint, which is typical for a service-based consultancy with no manufacturing operations.
Reduction targets
We project emissions will decrease to 10.97 tCO₂e by 2035, a reduction of 4.20% per year. Measures already in place or planned include:
- Climate Perks scheme giving employees paid journey days to travel by rail, coach or ferry rather than flying
- Switching to Fairphones and repairable IT equipment to reduce embodied emissions
- Preferring EV hire cars for road travel
- Working with suppliers who have their own carbon reduction plans
